Research abstract

Complex Naval control systems undergo extensive testing cycles spanning multiple years, during which testers document issues in software problem reports (SPRs). However, the rapid pace and sensitivity of testing often limit the ability to properly document issues for future replication or investigation. When issues are assigned to developers, critical data required for reproduction or categorization may be missing, leading to unresolved problem reports in deployed products.Altron addresses these challenges through an innovative automated testing and analytics platform that performs real-time data aggregation and correlation of system inputs, logs, and metadata to support comprehensive SPR capture. As the system processes increasing data types, it builds an ontology that categorizes and details bugs, significantly reducing the investigative burden on testers. Testers can now create detailed SPRs with automatically captured information and continue with their test plans, while developers receive reliable recreation data and amplifying information for issue diagnosis.Altron's solution provides also the ability to identify, monitor, visualize, and assess anomalies in real-time during integration and testing of mission-critical systems. The platform facilitates early detection of system issues using rule-based data analytics and machine learning, reducing system integration test time, lowering costs, and expediting delivery of system capabilities. While initially targeting the AN/SQQ-89 ASW Combat System, our solution has broad applications in both military and commercial systems, leveraging expertise in combat systems, cybersecurity, automated testing, data mining, logging and monitoring, image processing, information assurance, predictive analytics, machine learning, and edge computing.
