Research abstract

Naval test engineers currently face significant challenges analyzing laboratory and at-sea testing data, with manual processes introducing delays, inconsistencies, and potential errors. The lack of standardization is particularly problematic when multiple engineers must interpret the same data, often leading to varying conclusions even for simple calibration tests.Altron proposes an automated analysis quick-look tool to standardize undersea warfare test result interpretation and documentation. The system would process data from testing as simple as a towed array calibration to complex multi-day scenarios, providing consistent analysis regardless of engineer experience level. Key features include pre-test quality assurance checks for hardware configuration verification, automated data processing to reduce human error, and standardized reporting frameworks. The tool addresses current challenges of time-consuming manual analysis, varying expertise levels among test engineers, and subjective data interpretation that can lead to inconsistent outcomes. Initially targeting simple, repeatable tests like towed receive array calibration, the system will demonstrate extensibility to handle complex test procedures across lab and at-sea environments.
