Research abstract

The Navy has successfully explored the operational feasibility and acceptability of using wearable personal status monitors in naval shipboard environments to analyze sleep-related fatigue and improve operational safety and efficiency. The application of these measures promises to heighten ship safety and aims to boost overall mission efficacy by ensuring personnel are more alert and at peak performance. Altron proposes to develop an innovative standalone hub system that serves as a central point for capturing and aggregating data from sailor physiological wearable devices. The standalone hub system will optimize data capture and aggregation to ensure accurate and real-time monitoring of sleep quality and quantity. The standalone hub system will improve sailor sleep quality and mitigate fatigue-related health and performance decrements to improve the well-being and operational readiness of Navy personnel.
