Research abstract

This project aims to transform food packaging by developing Sustainable and Active Packaging (SAP) Technology. By integrating biobased materials with active compounds, SAP Technology creates cost-effective packaging with advanced functionality. It addresses USDA priorities by reducing food waste, extending the shelf life of produce, and meeting regulatory standards. Unlike traditional packaging, SAP employs biobased, recyclable materials to deliver active compounds in a controlled manner, preserving produce quality and enhancing the economic viability of the food supply chain.
