Research abstract

Physical Sciences Inc. will develop and demonstrate a suite of prototype software to provide real-time effectiveness assessments for electromagnetic countermeasures (decoys and jammers) employed by a surface combatant when defending against an attack. This Tactical Effectiveness Service for Electromagnetic Effectors (TES-EE) will be designed to operate within the Integrated Combat System (ICS) in concert with the broader electromagnetic environment capabilities of the ONR Advanced Non-Kinetic Evaluation for Re-engagement (ANKER) Future Naval Capability effort. The Phase II SBIR Project proposed here will refine and extend the Phase I prototype Assessment Service to further optimize its performance, perform further performance evaluation tests using higher fidelity simulation environments, and adapt the input and output data formats to integrate seamlessly into the ICS. The maturation and integration tests of the effectiveness assessment technology proposed here will increase the readiness level of the technology to (software) TRL 7 at the end of the Option effort, providing low risk transition into the operational ICS.
