Research abstract

The proposed system is a 16-band multispectral imaging system operating in the ultraviolet and visible (280 to 480 nm) for detecting and tracking the location and concentration of chlorine gas plumes in real time. The design is based on the 3D imaging technology developed recently by Surface Optics Corporation, which produces a full multispectral cube with each focal plane exposure. The adaptation of the 3D design to the UV was shown in the Phase I program to be fully feasible from existing technology. A multispectral processing method that is compatible with SOC’s real time processors is adapted and demonstrated to be highly sensitive for the detection and concentration measurement of chlorine.
