Research abstract

ISL with partner with Raytheon and Rock West Composites to design a diode pumping solid state laser system with the following specifications: 250mJ/pulse, 300Hz, <10ns pulse duration (as low as 0.7ns), and <1.5x diffraction limited beam quality, and wall plug efficiency to better than 15%. Rock West Composites expertise is in monolithic rugged optical systems and will develop the conceptual packaging design. Raytheon will provide the guidance for system integration of the laser into an air/space platform. The objective of the Phase I is to recommend a feasible conceptual design for which a detailed design for constructing a prototype system can be pursed in Phase II.
