Research abstract

The high cost and long timelines for development, testing, and fielding of Radio Frequency (RF) systems severely limits the Air Force’s ability to rapidly deploy the new capabilities our warfighters desperately need to succeed in highly contested RF environments. The “Virtual RF Target” (VRT) will address a gap in that long range weapons that exceed the land range boundaries. The VRT will provide simulated, high-fidelity, geo-specific, closed loop RF test responses to the System Under Test (SUT) that faithfully match operational conditions including terrain and landcover.
