Research abstract

There is an ongoing need for an air launched loitering munition capable of striking fast moving mobile targets which present different challenges than fixed targets due to rapid changes in target speed and direction up to the moment of strike, and difficulty maintaining target track through momentary occultations.  A loitering munition must also have the flight endurance to wait for an appropriate time to make the strike, whether for intelligence, to mitigate collateral damage, or in anticipation of better effects on target by selecting a more appropriate direction of approach.  The proposed MTT / LRSS solution endeavors to deliver greater than 90% probability of successful strike on fast moving and maneuvering targets with a flight endurance of greater than 60 minutes.  The expected result of this proposed effort is an air launched live-fire demonstration against a moving target.
