Research abstract

Metron, Inc. proposes a unique solution for combining data from Satellite Toolkit (STK), a detailed engineering-level simulation of Global Positioning System (GPS) integrity, with the Naval Simulation System (NSS), a joint campaign-level warfare model. The goal of this effort is to produce an integrated simulation tool that can be used to illustrate the importance of accurate GPS position, navigation, and timing (PNT) to various warfighting functions and ultimately to the achievement of campaign goals. For this Phase II work, Metron proposes to continue the integration of NSS and STK initiated in the Phase I contract, expanding the uses of GPS PNT in NSS beyond the weapons effectiveness and UAV station-keeping implemented in the Phase I analysis. Both NSS and STK will be improved to better represent GPS and various threat efforts to deny or degrade GPS PNT solutions. We will build a tool for coordinating inputs between the two models. Our integrated software solution will be installed in the SPAWAR Systems Center (SSC) Universal Anti-Spoofing Test Bed laboratory and a demonstration scenario, drawn from a real-world DoD Major Combat Operations scenario, will be run to showcase the new M&S ability.
