Research abstract

Legacy approaches to Radar Threat Warning such as SLQ-32 are being completely replaced through modernization programs such as SEWIP Block 2, which will likely replace IFM technology with a channelized receiver approach. In doing this, the benefits of COTS hardware modules can be leveraged, along with the associated Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) concepts. However, the COTS RF receiver modules at the front end and subsequent A/D converters become the vulnerable point in the system, and are susceptible to being saturated by other onboard RF transmissions. In this effort, Azure will develop and validate advanced cancellation algorithms that will extend the usable dynamic range of the receiver front ends, preserving weak threat signals in the presence of powerful onboard interference.
