Research abstract

To meet MDA’s GN&C requirements, we are developing a rad-hard GPS receiver based on Raytheon’s RAPToR GPS receiver technology. In Phase II and III we will develop a modular, 2-channel rad-hard high anti-jam (AJ) RF ASIC. It will be fabricated in the TI BiCom3X SOI process, which has a high degree of inherent radiation hardness. AJ capability will be 70 dB with internal 2-bit ADC and 120 dB with external 12-bit ADC. The RF ASIC is 1/5 (< 0.2 cubic inches) the volume of RF Sections with similar AJ capabilities. Codes and applications supported include C/A, P(Y), M, and SAASM. Nu-Trek is establishing itself as a supplier of rad-hard parts that enable the implementation of the HAENS level 2 standard, and is putting an entire volume manufacture/qualification infrastructure in place. Four parts are presently being fabricated and will be on sale in 2008. Our parts have already been inserted into the MKV and NGIMU. PI Ray Eastwood (Nu-Trek) has designed cutting edge GPS receivers for Raytheon; and Wayne Dietrich (Raytheon) has designed over 90 military ASICs. Letters of endorsement have been received from Raytheon, Honeywell, and Draper Labs. The EKV and KEI are first insertion opportunities.
