Research abstract

Improving war-fighter protection against fire has become a top priority since the emergence of improvised explosive devices. Garments with a high degree of fire resistance are necessary to protect soldiers. Luna Innovations is developing a new textile system having fire and heat resistance. The unique fire resistant technology will allow the production of lightweight fire resistant textiles that are strong, durable and comfortable to wear.
