Research abstract

Irvine Sensors Corporation (ISC) will work together with Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems and Sensors (LM MS2-Eagan). The objective of this effort is to develop and implement production enhancements for Anti-Tamper (AT) technology for the protection of critical technology against exploitation. MDA is seeking to develop improved manufacturing and production techniques for use when integrating Anti-Tamper into weapon systems or component manufacturing process. In particular MDA’s focus is to develop protection that (1) addresses a significant challenge associated with implementing AT utilizing current manufacturing and production processes or (2) makes AT implementation a seamless part of the weapons system or component manufacturing process. Integration of any Anti-Tamper component, device, software and/or firmware is a difficult challenge for the program manager and the various systems that support the weapons platform. ISC took the approach of building a generic, “COTs-Type” Anti-Tamper device under previous MDA SBIR efforts. The AT device is called “MDEM” and is similar in height and structure of other components found on printed circuit board. This supports MDA’s focus for seamless integration of the ISC AT device into weapon platforms when block upgrades are required or for new weapon systems that have an AT requirement.
