Research abstract

In this SBIR, DTI proposes to extend its existing high voltage switching technology to develop the high voltage and high power switches required for high frequency, multi-MW power conversion, based on currently available and deployable Si devices – enabling the use of switching power supply architectures at 13.8 kV voltages and multi-MW power levels. These switches are the critical elements in any compact, multi-MW, high frequency power converter. In Phase I, DTI will design and test a prototype 10 kV 200 Ampere (2 MW) switch capable of supporting multiple power converter architectures.
