Research abstract

DRT will design and develop a compact, handheld, Software Definable Radio (SDR) platform that performs threat warning and direction finding. The SDR will perform threat detection, identification, tracking, and targeting for force protection. The SDR will be entirely self-contained by using the latest in RF and digital technology. It will implement efficient algorithms for threat warning and direction finding to provide high performance with low power consumption. The development process will include designing new, power efficient RF hardware, and creating a digital processing platform that allows optimal performance for the algorithms that will run on it. The algorithms for threat warning and direction finding will be optimized given the constraints of the system design. A rugged enclosure will be designed to handle the difficult environmental requirements.
