Research abstract

Black River Systems Co., Inc. proposes to perform radar system operational and performance trades for detecting slow moving and crossing targets in dense clutter, and to establish the analytic basis of a new innovative technique, Spatial-Temporal Differential Analysis (STDA). Comparisons of radar architecture candidates and cost/benefit analysis of these architectures will be accomplished with the aid of current meta-modeling capability. Initial research will focus on slow moving and crossing target detection in dense clutter environments using multi-channel array data for a variety of radar/platform architectures. Validation of performance will be accomplished with the aid of meta-model simulation tools. As part of these primary tasks, we will develop methods of modeling slow moving target motion to adequately simulate notional STDA GMTI operation. We will establish performance metrics for the notional radar architectures. Subsystem requirements will be developed as part of the normal requirements flow down process, including digital signal processing throughput and latency requirements. Geolocation accuracy will be estimated for these notional radar architectures.
