Research abstract

Decision Sciences Incorporated (DSI), a corporation with over 38 years of experience and over 30 years of experience supporting the Department of Defense, proposes a collaboration with Johns Hopkins University (JHU) to conduct comprehensive literature review, develop conceptual frameworks, assess feasibility, promote technological advancements, and demonstrate the benefit of using a digital supply chain. DSI and JHU will conduct R&D to understand and establish the feasibility of supply chain visualization by mapping the suppliers within a portion of the satellite industrial base. DSI and JHU will then build on the research findings and utilize operations research analysis to evaluate, validate, and demonstrate the significance of identifying potential manufacturing chokepoints in the supply chain. The project will include knowledge transfer and training of stakeholders, including SDA, prime contractors, and sub-tier vendors, in developing a more efficient satellite procurement system. DSI and John Hopkins University intend to achieve project objectives by fostering a knowledge-sharing environment alongside an analytical approach for assessing chokepoints and quality.á
