Research abstract

We propose Discrete Event System Specification (DEVS) System theory-based framework for mission engineering and analysis to supportáProliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA) performance modeling. This framework is aimed at highlighting the intricate dynamics between space systems and their terrestrial counterparts across air, land, and sea domains with a specific focus on tranche-based mission engineering and analysis. Our objective centers on developing a prototype that accounts for the dynamic intricacies of space-enabled systems and the need to effectively and efficiently transition between planned PWSA development tranches.ááThe prototype will harness the synergy of RTSyncĺs collaborative modeling and simulation (M&S) environment, with the high-fidelity M&S capabilities ofáVirginia Tech National Security Instituteĺs (VT-NSIĺs) excellentátool suite for system test and validation. Our plan for Phase I includes:á1) Define the goals and criteria that the models need to achieve and satisfy, 2)áCreate or prove use of existing algorithms between family of mission engineering and analysis models, which includes parameter mapping between models, 3) Design and implement a conducive environment for rigorous model testing andá4) Validate the approach and demonstrate its applicability in real-world scenarios.
