Research abstract

The United States has arrived at a unique time in its history. There is an abundance of expertise in expeditionary operations, such as those associated with counterinsurgency, and it is growing. We must not squander this resource given the growing presence of the associated threat. The Infantry Captains Career Course has been updating its program of instruction based on guidance from the Training and Doctrine Command to emphasize challenges of counterinsurgency in the contemporary operational environment, and to balance offensive, defensive, stability operations. An integrated set of products and processes will be developed to help instructors achieve this objective.
