Research abstract

Navatek Ltd. will successfully integrate their Integrated Propulsion Pod (IPP) technology to provide dynamic motion compensation to manned and unmanned surface vehicles to facilitate safe and effective launch, tow and recovery of tow bodies for up to and including a sea state 4 condition at various headings over extended durations. Based on successful CEROS at-sea demonstrations in CY 06, Navatek will extend this technology to the Navy's LCS USV platform to mitigate craft motions on the order of 50% (RMS accelerations). This technology is effective across the entire towed body speed regime - from 0 knots for dipping sonars, 5 to 15 knots for towed arrays and 20 to 25 knots for MIW sweep systems. Additionally, it can be installed on-board the LCS USV platform without impacting the Mission Module stowage volume or weight allocations, or the launching, towing and recovery of the currently developed LCS USV towed bodies.
