Research abstract

Intelligence analysts must sift through large volumes of raw data to identify, interpret and extract actionable intelligence for the warfighter. Among the most critical data streams are those carrying voice traffic because of its potential value in understanding the threat environment. Finding critical information in this immense volume of traffic is much like listening to a chorus of 10,000 voices to hear a single word and extract its intended meaning. Modus Operandi proposes the Harmony toolset for making intelligence analysts more effective, increasing their productivity without a significant increase in workload. Harmony provides advancement and innovation in technology for data discovery, integration and understanding. Key aspects include capabilities to (1) harmonize disparate metadata models between a legacy system and a reference model by analyzing the lexical and semantic elements and (2) developing a deployable mediation model. Harmony will empower analysts with the ability to leverage semantic search and retrieval across the network centric Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) domain.
