Research abstract

The objectiveĀof this effort is to enhance the Navy's logistics capabilities to ensure the uninterrupted flow of supplies and support to naval forces, even in the face of adversary actions. Resilient logistics will be enabled by secure communications and information technology, including all activities and technologies required to refuel, rearm, resupply, repair, and revive distributed naval forces down to the last tactical mile. To reduce the vulnerability of logistics operations, Modus Operandi (Modus) will implement reduced data-exchange requirements. This will minimize the exposure of critical information and limit opportunities for adversaries to exploit vulnerabilities in the Navy's logistics network. ModusÆs proposed LOGEN (Logistics Enhancement with Living Intelligence) initiative aims to use advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies, along with sophisticated algorithms, to improve operational resilience. This initiative combines technological advancements with a comprehensive staffing strategy, which involves identifying and integrating necessary skills among key personnel, as well as providing the required facilities and equipment. The LOGEN initiative is based on the idea of using AI and ML in critical operations to ensure reliability and resilience. This means that our systems will not only be intelligent but also strong enough to withstand potential disruptions, maintaining a high level of operational integrity. The initiative is strategically designed to streamline processes, increase efficiency, and optimize outcomes in key operational areas by utilizing intelligent algorithms that can learn, adapt, and improve over time. This initiative goes beyond just implementing technology; it involves a carefully planned integration of skilled personnel and appropriate facilities to ensure the successful execution and sustainability of the project. LOGEN takes a holistic approach, combining human expertise, advanced technology, and strategic planning to deliver resilient operations supported by trusted AI and ML solutions.
