Research abstract

An innovative approach for predicting initiation and crack growth of structures subjected to fretting is proposed. The research will utilize, modify and build upon existing state-of-the art fatigue and fracture modules in an advanced CAE framework that will result in efficient models that use the multiaxial stress state due to fretting to determine crack initiation and crack growth life subjected to realistic high cycle engine fatigue spectra.
