Research abstract
Spinnaker Semiconductor proposes the development of a rad-hard 20 Msps 14 bit analog-to-digital converter based-on Spinnaker's SB-CMOS technology. Spinnaker intends to use their in-house 2D Monte-Carlo device simulator (WHITECAP) to quantify the effect of a high energy ion strike to a SB-MOS device. WHITECAP will also be used to engineer and optimize the device in order to eliminate all parasitic bipolar action and single event upsets (SEUs). A 20 Msps 14 bit ADC will be designed in collaboration with Dr. Ramesh Harjani's group at the University of Minnesota using SB-CMOS compact models generated by WHITECAP. The SB-CMOS based ADC will be simulated in order to evaluate the ADC for 100% latch-up and SEU immunity.
