Research abstract

The Phase I study verified that a 3-D flash ladar weapon sight is feasible. This Phase II proposal is for an extremely advanced dual-sensor, multi-use system based on the Phase I study, a new weapon sight and modern warfighting concepts; the upgraded weapon sight serves also as a reconnaissance and communication tool. The proposed Multi-Sensor Active Lightweight Imaging System (MSALIS) is a quantum leap in technology and could put a force-multiplying tool in the U.S. Soldier’s hands at least five years ahead of when it might normally be available. Not only is ASC incorporating its unique 3-D flash ladar technology in an existing weapon sight to reduce the design time but it has also incorporated the manufacturer’s of that system in the development process to reduce time to market showing a clear path to commercialization. MSALIS subsystems will also form the technology base for more advanced integrated sensor systems for the individual soldier.
