Research abstract

A novel and economic dosimeter is envisioned, which achieves high absorptive efficiencies. Our approach involves a quantitative analysis where the electrodynamic dissipation is integrated into the total thermal environment so that con-vection, conduction and radiative effects are taken into account in determining the radi-ative distribution from the temperature profile of the active area. Our principle inves-tigator has authored the first published exact analytic expressions of key dosimetry results. To achieve the high accuracy envisioned we will employ a yet unpublished result which is foundational to dosimetry theory. This result is a classic dosimetric quantity and will thereby con-tribute to both the foundations of dosimetry theory and this instrument in particular. We have an excellent approximation to our desired electrodynamic dosimetric quantity-the temperature of our active area. Using this, we determine a first order approximation of the material's electrodynamic parame-ter space that will provide satisfactory and unsatisfactory results. Material selection for the dosim-eter's active area is broadly determined with subsequent analysis poised to both refine the ideal materials and to select realistic materials. Intrinsic competing parameters are discussed in the context of tradeoff studies, of which several are proposed where the needs of the customer will dictate the solution space taken.
