Research abstract

The objective of this proposal is to design and demonstrate sensor and haptic technologies that support performance readiness and operational effectiveness of working dogs across all training and operational environments. We propose the development of a canine wearable sensor platform incorporating a haptic cueing and communication system (HapCom). The approach will result in reliable and effective remote military working dog (MWD) team communication. HapCom will enhance team readiness and performance, especially during operational use in complex environments when vision and sound may be compromised. HapCom is scalable and configurable for a wide range of MWD team missions.
