Research abstract

Imagize is proposing to develop a novel wide field-of-view dual-band visualization device capable of operating from overcast starlight to day and in all weather conditions. The proposed DMARS tactical vision system incorporates hybrid night vision capability and digitally fused thermal and SWIR imaging. Based on current capabilities as well as newly available materials and components, the system will provide a 64-degree field of view with undiminished visual acuity. The proposed solution supports multi-spectral imaging across the visible, near-infrared, SWIR reflective and the LWIR emissive spectral bands and provides low latency enhanced visualization across all bands. The enhanced imagery provided by the on-board image sensors will be digitally augmented with real-time battlefield data as well as imagery from connected platforms. Sharing of on-board imagery will also be supported. The highly optimized core electronics incorporating neuromorphic computations models will provide a see-through experience with sub-millisecond latency which is key for both low power operation and sustained use in kinetic battlefield environments. The proposed system will be built as a helmet-mounted goggle system but the developed solution will support hand-held, as well as weapon or vehicle mounted configurations as well.
