Research abstract

Rockman et al, an independent research, evaluation and consulting firm in San Francisco, proposes to collaborate with EdVenture Group, a for-profit training and professional service agency, to conduct a feasibility study of a combined training and online tool designed to support the creation, monitoring and implementation of a school wide improvement plans. The EIP system was developed for use in on-site technical assistance efforts focusing on developing measurable and actionable school or district improvement plans, collecting data and developing a well-substantiated and coherent plan for improving the school. This work provides an ideal opportunity to conduct feasibility research and improve the return on investment from federally funded development and research for economic and social benefits, identified as a key purpose for the SBIR program. The following technical objectives will guide the work of Phase 1: Identify an appropriate sample of schools and districts to participate in the pilot; Provide technical assistance and training to selected schools in school improvement planning and in the use of the EIP system; Collect data on the feasibility of the EIP system as a method for facilitating high quality school improvement activities.
