Research abstract

Rockman et al, an independent research, evaluation and consulting firm in San Francisco, is collaborating with WestEd, a nonprofit research, development, and service agency, to conduct a feasibility study of professional development around a comprehensive set of tools and activities for data-driven decision making. Specifically, the study will examine the optimum level of professional development needed for effective use of the Developing an Effective School Plan: An Activity-based Guide. The tools and activities contained in the guide have been developed over the last five years with input from an extensive list of researchers and technical assistance providers within WestEd who have been assisting schools, districts, and state departments with school reform for many years. The primary anticipated result is the determination of an ideal model for school improvement support in order to allow for significant scaling of the product and related services.
