Research abstract

This SBIR project will focus on integrating Managment Sciences, Inc., safety and risk assurance tools with the USAF Flight Dynamics Directorate Automeated STRuctural Optimization System (ASTROS) tool. This SBIR proposes to use the ASTROS tool with additional application software to completely develop a flight safety analysis toolset for small aircraft certification. ASTROS is a comprehesive self-contained system. ASTROS architecture allows easy enhancements and addition of new engineering modules. MSI plans to develop a secondary market using ASTROS for structural safety and risk application in small aircraft certification. The result will be a multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) toolset that will assess structural, control, navigation, human factors and other aspects of flight safety.
