Research abstract

In an active SBIR Phase II contract, MSI will demonstrate a high-capacity cybersecure low-probability-of-detection tactical software-defined ratio. The technology is an FPGA-based processing hub that transmits data, voice, and real-time video via advanced selectable frequency hopping RF waveforms. Ranges exceed 5km using <200 milliwatts of power for low probability of detection that is less susceptible to interference and jamming by adversaries. As additional transceivers are added, they form a mesh network offering resilience of distributed cooperative beamforming that increases the effective signal power and communication range, and provides directional diversity to overcome physical obstructions, e.g., foliage, buildings, and jamming.  The transceiver has AI-based NSA Cross Domain Solution Raise-the-Bar software-defined filters that provide multi-level security. We propose new research that will define enhancements to enable cybersecure WIN-HL communication of data and images from sensors and mobile devices. The proposed Phase I work will design and develop a framework that supports development of FPGA-hosted waveforms; and provide a detailed description of the system architecture, the necessary input and output interfaces, and key components necessary for operation. The Phase I effort will also include prototype plans to be developed under Phase II.
