Research abstract

The weapon effectiveness community is challenged to assess a variety of combat systems with the complex and time-consuming process of developing the myriad of inputs required for a high-resolution vulnerability analysis. It is desired to develop acapability to quickly develop these inputs using automated tools and built-in libraries of components/systems to support weapon effectiveness studies. The proposed solution consists of a vulnerability analysis toolset that implements an extensible file structure based on XML. The toolset will be designed with a simplified user-interface and will work with multiple Government-developed vulnerabilityapplications. It's construction will be based on open, cross-platform standards and an open-source distribution model. Completion of the proposed effort will provide the DoD will the ability to rapidly perform vulnerability analyses. The technology required to implement this capability has commercial applications in Computer Aided Design, database development, andweb-based 3D content domains.
