Research abstract

TelemeTrak proposes modifying its existing toolbox and tools management solutions to develop a technology assisted, portable, ruggedized, toolbox for use in all-weather maintenance environments, that can be 3D printed and meets all requirements of DAF 23.1 SBIR Topic AF231-0016 (“ATC for Small CTKs”).  Those are all listed in Error! Reference source not found., but to highlight a few, our technology assisted, portable, ruggedized, toolbox will be intuitive, multi-touch, 3D printable, and user-friendly. It will use multi-factor authentication and have tool tracking, tool current location, last known tool location, tool wear-and-tear status, missing tool recognition and foreign object (FO) detection.  It will incorporate predictive tool replacement with automatic ordering features. The toolbox will operate on battery power for a minimum of 24 hours prior to needing a recharge or battery swap, and meet HERO certification requirements with a max "Safe Separation Distance" of 10 ft for UNSAFE from the AF Safety Center. The ATC will be easy for the end-user to reconfigure/update to remove/add tools/components and will be able to operate in a communications-compromised environment. The proposed technology assisted, portable, ruggedized, 3D printable, all-weather toolbox is multi-modal; it offers three complementary methods for detecting which tools are contained within it.
