Research abstract

The proposed Phase I effort will develop X-band Modular Array Panels (X-MAP). X-MAP uses commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) modular antenna elements and COTS software defined radio (SDR) to optimize tradeoffs between system cost, size, and performance. X-MAP custom panels with COTS components are specifically designed to produce large-scale arrays and will provide lower overall system cost compared to creating large-scales arrays from COTS arrays that are not designed for scale-up. In Phase I Nanohmics will demonstrate the feasibility of X-MAP through benchtop demonstrations of the different system components and provide an initial estimate of system performance and cost. In Phase II Nanohmics will produce a prototype system that can be evaluated by MDA.
