Research abstract

The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) uses a collection of non-tactical and tactical instrumentation to capture data on major events during flight tests. Alternatively, Fly-Along Sensor Packages (FASPs) provide unparalleled close-range observations during flight tests. MDA seeks to develop a Deployable Modular Integrated Sensor System (DMISS), such that FASPs may be used more frequently in MDA test flights. Key features of DMISS are modularity to accommodate a variety of mission-specific sensor payloads and compatibility with existing or standard deployment mechanisms on the target vehicle. This proposal is for a Modular Fly-Along Sensor Package (ModFASP) to address the DMISS need. Approved for Public Release | 25-MDA-12052 (27 Mar 25)
