Research abstract

In response to the critical cybersecurity skills gap affecting the Department of Defense (DoD), intelligence community (IC), U.S. government (USG), and industry, pwn.college LLC proposes to enhance and scale its open-source cybersecurity education platform through the SENSEI (Scaling Education Nationwide for Security Expertise and Impact) project. This Phase II effort focuses on expanding the platform's content, enhancing personalized feedback mechanisms, stabilizing and scaling the infrastructure, and developing an offline, self-deployable version suitable for secure environments. The project aims to create a modular, progressive curriculum covering foundational to advanced cybersecurity topics, incorporating real-world scenarios and hands-on exercises to ensure practical application of knowledge. To provide personalized feedback at scale, the platform will leverage artificial intelligence technologies, including large language models (LLMs), combined with community-driven support and human-in-the-loop systems for complex queries. The infrastructure will transition to a distributed, multi-node environment capable of supporting large-scale deployments, implementing automated scaling, high availability, data redundancy, and robust monitoring systems. Additionally, a fully offline-capable, self-deployable version of the platform will be developed for high-security, isolated environments by modifying core components to operate without external dependencies.By combining hands-on, challenge-based learning with scalable technology and personalized feedback mechanisms, the SENSEI project aims to produce a comprehensive cybersecurity training platform that effectively addresses the skills gap. The project's outcomes will support national efforts to enhance cybersecurity expertise, secure critical infrastructure, and maintain a qualified workforce capable of handling mission-critical offensive and defensive cyberspace operations.
