Research abstract
Delta Thermal proposes a Phase I research and development effort to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of our automated thermography solution for Navy transport systems and switchgear. As the Navy faces a $1.7 billion backlog in deferred maintenance and delays in critical shipbuilding programs, there is a pressing need for predictive maintenance technologies to maintain fleet readiness. Our technology integrates proprietary U.S.-made thermal cameras and AI-driven software to continuously monitor critical components, providing real-time data that helps prevent equipment failures and reduce maintenance costs. In Phase I, we will collaborate with NAVSEA to assess the technology’s impact on high-demand, complex systems, such as the AEGIS shipboard power distribution and ship propulsion systems. We will focus on demonstrating how our solution can significantly reduce operational downtime and maintenance costs by identifying thermal anomalies before they cause failures. The results of this feasibility study will guide the development of a Phase II prototype tailored to Navy needs, ensuring that the solution is scalable, reliable, and easy to deploy in the field, supporting fleet-wide adoption and enhanced operational readiness.
