Research abstract

NavForge is a cutting-edge enhancement of ZenithFlow's OmniCore AI/ML-enabled workflow automation platform, designed specifically to address the operational logistics challenges faced by NAVSEA (Naval Sea Systems Command) in shipyard and maintenance operations. NavForge is developed to function entirely on laptops without internet connectivity, making it an ideal solution for the demanding environments of naval operations, where continuous availability and security are paramount. The core innovation of NavForge lies in its ability to leverage AI/ML technologies to automate and enhance maintenance processes, with a focus on generating AI-driven work instructions. This capability directly supports NAVSEA's objective of reducing the time Navy assets spend out of operational service, thereby enhancing fleet readiness and operational effectiveness. NavForge is built upon the robust, field-proven foundation of ZenithFlow’s OmniCore platform, which has demonstrated success in complex military operations with Special Operations Command and U.S. Southern Command (SOCSOUTH). The platform's proven capabilities in information management, rapid data analysis, and decision support at the tactical edge provide a solid base for adapting these technologies to the naval maintenance domain. Key features of NavForge include:Offline-First Architecture: NavForge operates without the need for cloud connectivity, ensuring full functionality in disconnected environments typical of naval operations.Advanced NLP (Natural Language Processing) and AI/ML Capabilities: These are tailored to analyze and categorize maintenance logs, technical manuals, and work orders, generating clear, concise, and standardized maintenance reports and instructions.Multi-Agent Query System: Adapted from OmniCore's SPARK technology, this system is designed to handle complex information retrieval tasks, ensuring maintenance personnel have access to the most relevant and up-to-date information.Adaptive Work Instruction Generation: NavForge generates detailed, adaptive step-by-step instructions for a wide range of tasks, adjusting based on user feedback, ship class, equipment model, and specific maintenance scenarios. The Phase I effort of the NavForge project aims to demonstrate the feasibility and impact of adapting OmniCore’s core technologies to the naval maintenance environment. This phase will focus on developing a system architecture tailored to NAVSEA’s needs, adapting NLP models for naval maintenance, and prototyping a Multi-Agent Query System for technical document retrieval and analysis. Additionally, NavForge will incorporate a knowledge management system to centralize and preserve institutional knowledge, ensuring continuity and efficiency in maintenance operations.
