Research abstract

Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have become indispensable power sources civil and military applications. However, state-of-the-art LIBs face significant challenges when operating in extreme temperatures. To address these limitations, we propose to develop a novel class of wide-temperature electrolytes, termed High-Entropy Low-Activation-Energy (HELEN) electrolytes. By integrating these advanced electrolytes with interface-enhanced electrodes, we aim to create high-energy-density LIBs capable of functioning effectively across an unprecedented temperature range. The overarching objective of this research is to develop LIB products that can operate efficiently from -80░C to 70░C, meeting the demanding requirements of Army, defense, and non-defense applications where conventional LIBs would be ineffective.
