Research abstract

There are limited high power inverters for military hybrid propulsion applications at power levels needed for tactical vehicles. Our technology will yield higher power density than the leading competitive mil-grade solutions, enabled by patent-pending active filtering and wide bandgap semiconductor materials. This ruggedization and characterization study will provide the analysis needed to convert an existing solution currently designed for photovoltaic applications to the functional electrical requirements and mil-grade packaging needed for this harsh environment application. The result will be a feasibility analysis to move to Phase 2 with a high power, high density, bidirectional 3-phase AC to high voltage DC inverter.
