Research abstract

High-assurance systems require secure computer hardware to ensure the integrity and trustworthiness of the entire computing environment. The Aberdeen Architecture is a metadata-based computer architecture with hardware state machine monitors to enforce stringent security policies and monitor instruction execution at very fine-granularity. Trusted Science and Technology, Inc. (Trusted ST) proposes to develop MicroSentry: High Assurance Secure Computing Solution with Aberdeen Architecture.áThe key innovation of this proposal includes the design and development of: (1)ááá A software RISC-V processor extension with OS Friendly Microprocessor Architecture (OSFA). (2) A hardware state machine (HSM) processor based on Aberdeen Architecture. (3) A software toolchain extension to automatically generate program metadata. (4) An initial evaluation with test benchmarks to validate the MicroSentry framework.á
