Research abstract

The objective of this effort is to deliver AI enabled sensor data fusion capabilities for future integration into the 160th Special Operations aviation Regiment (Airborne) (SOAR(A) rotary wing aircraft. This effort will be accomplished through the development of a prototype architecture, compute environment, and data orchestration layer. This effort supports the pursuit of establishing the appropriate requirements for the fleet of enduring Rotary Wing platforms in the 160th SOAR(Abn). The architecture and prototype demonstration will be the first steps towards AI enabled Sensor Fusion for the 160th SOAR(A) fleet of aircraft. The development effort under this SBIR phase II will be in concert with the TAPO and SIMO efforts to establish a well-informed capability development document (CDD) that pursues modernization of the enduring fleet’s cyber physical systems under a coherent architectural path forward with the ultimate goal of aligning architecture and compute environments to enable AI integration into the Rotary Wing Platforms to increase aircraft and air crew capabilities while simultaneously and optimizing crew workloads.
