Research abstract

Parry Labs proposes to meet the Advanced Miniature Mission Processor (AMMP) for Hyperspectral Applications topic goals, including its VNX+ objective through a low-risk approach that takes proven Group 2 UAS processing technology and customizes it for the demands of hyperspectral processing chains. We will use the EC Micro’s heterogeneous processing structure consisting of an FPGA, CPU, and GPGPU. The CPU will enable the complex decision trees required for hyperspectral algorithms. Its GPGPU is optimized for highly parallel tasks that must be executed rapidly. We will replace the current EC Micro FPGA with one VNX compliant and that handles camera inputs and outputs (I/O) such as CameraLink, Gigabit Ethernet (GigE), and CoaXpress, with adaptability to multiple connection formats. We will insert the FPGA as well as VNX+ conformance elements into the EC Micro package, which already contains an Orin processor for AI/ML applications. The EC package will be extensible to algorithms via software interface. It currently measures 5” x 5” x 2.25” and weighs 2.25 pounds. Parry Labs will provide an initial risk reduction prototype using a standard EC Micro optimized for HSI processing and tested through simulation and then a final prototype complying with the objective VNX+ form factor.
