Research abstract

Event-based cameras (EBCs), inspired by the human eye, capture transient data differently from traditional frame-based cameras, necessitating unique data processing methods. Currently, there is no standardized data interface and control / capture software for EBCs, hindering their use in government research and operations. In this effort Toyon will develop a GigE Vision EBC. Toyon will create an EBC system utilizing COTS sensor components and develop the necessary electronics, boards, connections, and software to integrate EBC data with government imaging and data systems.  Key specifications of our solution include adherence to GigE Vision and Motion Imagery Standards Board (MISB) standards, low latency operation, compatibility with 10 Gigabit Ethernet for data transmission, and a small form factor. The system will incorporate the latest generation of Xilinx field-programmable gate array (FPGA) for processing.
