Research abstract

TransWave Photonics proposes to develop a GaAs diode laser capable of producing 10 W of output power while maintaining single-mode operation at a 980 nm wavelength. Our proprietary laser design achieves threefold higher suppression of higher-order mode lasing, offering an extended single-mode range. The lateral shape of the laser cavity is optimized to produce high output power and mitigate optical mirror damage. In Phase I, we will design the laser's active region and waveguide structure to meet all required specifications, and experimentally demonstrate proof-of-concept devices.
