Research abstract

TransWave Photonics proposes an optical fiber combiner capable of producing 60 W average power near 4.6 um wavelength. Efficient beam combining of quantum cascade lasers using low-loss mid-infrared fibers can produce total combining efficiency of more than 80%. In Phase I, we will design a combining system, characterize loss parameters of various fibers, and demonstrate feasibility of the proposed system.
