Research abstract

TransWave Photonics,Āteaming with Professor Andrea Al∙Æs CUNY research group,Āproposes an optical metasurface architecture capable of all-passive non-reciprocal power limiting in the MWIR optical range. The metasurface architecture builds on prior work by the PI and subcontractor on the development of highly nonlinear metasurfaces based on combining intersubband transitions in multiple quantum wells and engineered electromagnetic resonances. In Phase I, we plan to develop comprehensive analytical and numerical modeling frameworks to explore candidate designs, and further demonstrate feasibility by providing proof-of-concept operation and de-risking key manufacturing steps.
