Research abstract

AAPlasma LLC, in collaboration with NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and other partners, is pioneering advancements in plasma technology for the removal of Ethylene Oxide (ETO) emissions in medical sterilization processes. This project leverages our extensive expertise in cold plasma systems and aims to integrate a novel ETO destructive removal system that can be seamlessly incorporated into existing industrial sterilization equipment.Ethylene Oxide is a commonly used sterilant for medical equipment; however, it poses significant health risks and environmental concerns due to its volatile nature. Our technology utilizes plasma-assisted catalysis to break down ETO and its byproducts into harmless substances, thereby mitigating its impact on the environment and human health. This system is poised to enhance operational safety and will ensure compliance with increasingly stringent environmental regulations. The assembled team brings together a blend of experts from various fields, including plasma engineering, prototyping, mass manufacturing, and legal aspects, ensuring a holistic approach to the project. Our prior engagements in similar technologies under different federal contracts provide a solid foundation for the expected success of this initiative. Our system promises significant reductions in hazardous emissions and offers an efficient, cost-effective solution to an urgent environmental challenge faced by the healthcare sector.Through strategic partnerships and robust testing protocols, we are committed to delivering a system that meets the required safety and efficacy standards, paving the way for a cleaner, safer medical sterilization industry.
